It Must Be My Metabolism
April 7, 2009 by New Age Health · Leave a Comment
A comprehensive plan to help you combat metabolic syndrome, lose weight, and restore overall health
First recognized by the World Health Organization in 1998, metabolic syndrome has become one of the hottest topics in health care. A collection of seemingly unrelated medical disorders, metabolic syndrome includes heart disease, excess abdominal fat, sleep problems, infertility, insulin resistance and full-fledged diabetes. When combined, these disorders pose a serious
health risk that doctors and consumers are increasingly aware of. It Must Be My Metabolism shows readers, step-by-step, how to make the changes necessary to lose the “apple” shape that so often comes at midlife, and regain both a youthful figure and better health.

5 Stars Get off the dieting failure treadmill forever!
I saw Dr. Yavari on CNN and knew right away that he could help me with my medical problems. I bought his book and discovered new information on problems I had dealt with all of my life. I made a life-changing decision to move to Connecticut from California to go to Dr. Yavari’s clinic. His program as described in this book has changed the course of my life. I have lost weight and am close to being free from insulin dependence. I hope that other over-40 women and diabetics who are battling stubborn weight gain, particularly in the stomach, will take advantage of this book and finally find relief.
Current medical coverage on television and the Internet supports the newly-discovered existence of metabolic syndrome where excess body fat causes diabetes and heart disease. Cross-talk between fat cells, appetite and stress centers in the brain and metabolism are discussed in an easily comprehensible style for the lay person. Both Parts I and II of the book have plenty of material on meal planning, food choices and exercise. You will learn why stress reduction is so important, why skipping meals or crash dieting shuts down your metabolism and why abdominal fat accumulates because of changes in your hormones. Do yourself a favor and become an advocate of this system. I and other patients of Dr. Yavari are living proof that it’s not “our fault” and that there really is a way out of the “repeated failure” system of dieting. Good luck!
5 Stars Read it; You Are Worth It!
I found this book incredibly helpful for I finally understand why the fad diets just don’t work. This book is not just another diet book nor is it a weight loss book; so don’t expect to find weight loss tricks here and there. I have used this book as part of the program offered at the Doctor’s center in Connecticut. For the first time in my life I am losing weight while I am eating plenty of healthy foods. I feel satisfied, calm, and much happier, plus I am exercising and enjoying it too! I feel great and have more energy than ever. The best part is that my health has dramatically improved. Finally, I am learning that it is not about dieting as much as it is about my lifestyle that needs to change to maintain good health.
I personally found the discussion of how stress and fad dieting can cause weight gain very insightful. The book also has excellent and easy to read chapters on metabolic syndrome, a pre-diabetes state that causes heart disease and full blown diabetes if not reversed. The recipes, meal plan and the six-month clinical program in part II of the book are the same as the plan I have followed at Dr. Yavari’s center. I recommend this great book to anyone who is tired of fad diets and is interested in living a healthy lifestyle while preventing diabetes
2 Stars It Must Be My Job
Overall, the book is full of not so interesting background information rather than useful tip for weight loss. I travel 100% of the work week. I live in hotels and eat in restuarants except for the weekends. This book was not particularly helpful to me.
The Never Say Diet Personal Fitness Trainer Sixteen Weeks to Achieve Your Goal of a Healthy Lifestyle
April 7, 2009 by New Age Health · Leave a Comment

“More than ninety percent of my patients gain back most of the weight they lose. Why so little success? The simple answer is that the average person can’t stay on a diet permanently. But this program is different. It is not a diet, but a complete lifestyle, thought-process, and physiological transformation. The change comes from within, helping to make you a better person…not just a thinner person.”
–Barry S. Ross, MD, Tamarac, Florida
“Never Say Diet provides a systematic approach to living a healthier, more balanced life. The food list that Chantel Hobbs presents is nutritious and, most important, enjoyable. Never Say Diet proves that fad diets don’t work and cannot substitute for creating a lifestyle that leads to attaining your goals.”
–Lon Ben-Asher, MS, LD/N, registered dietician, North Shore Medical Center, Miami, Florida
“The importance of Chantel’s story can’t be calculated in terms of burned calories or lost pounds, and it’s not her dramatic weight loss that makes her such a special person.

I was curious to all the things that apple cider vinegar was good for so I decided to purchase this book. It is a good book and I am happy with it.
5 Stars GREAT!!!
I loved this book. It has so much good information in it. I never new what ACV can do for you. Thanks for locating.
2 Stars Hard to Read
There may be good information in this book but the layout, and so many testimonials, made it so difficult to find, I gave up.
1 Star Apple Cider Vinegar Messed Up My Skin
Do not drink apple cider vinegar. It created heat within my system and messed up the skin on my face and gave me terrible melasma. It’s now going to take months for it to go away.
3 Stars A True Insight Into The Power Of ACV
* Lots of detail and clearly written
* There seems to be an ACV solution to almost every ailment!
* Very simple recipes that are easy to understand and put into practice
* Really convincing.
Although Paul C Bragg did live a healthy and long life, it’s abit
disheartening to know that he’s no longer with us. It’s nice that his
daughter is carrying on his message to the world.

5 Stars Fabulous book to reinforce good habits in kids
This is the book my 4 year old chooses to have read to him everyday at nap time. It really is a very fun and educational book. I think as a registered dietitan I actually enjoy the book as much as him. Finally, a book that makes nutrition, exercise and good health look fun!
5 Stars Great for teaching health and fitness
Great, fun book for young children. Wonderful way to introduce young ones to the ideas of eating right and staying fit so they can be healthy and strong. I will be using it in a preschool age classroom but my own children would have really enjoyed this one.
4 Stars Staying healthy and self esteem
Some really important messages in this Seuss style beginner book including
the importance of hygiene, exercise, good nutrition, body safety, recognising and talking about own feelings, everyone is special and unique.
Sometimes the rhymes lose a bit of their rhythm, but overall I think it is a fair adaption of Seuss style, but most importantly it is a fun way to begin concepts of taking care and valuing yourself with young children.
4 Stars cute and fun but out of date
The book is great and has wonderful healthy positive messages. My kids love it and ask to read it over and over. The only dissapointment is that it still has one page with the old food guide pyramid.
5 Stars Oh the things you can do that are good for you
I like this book because it taught me all different things when i was littler. Like how to brush my teeth, floss, wash my hands, wash my hair, get exercise, how to deal with a cold, the right food to eat, and how its important at the end of the day to get your rest. This book taught me so much and im thankful for that.

5 Stars Great Guide to Lower High Blood Pressure Naturally
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About(TM): Hypertension: The Revolutionary Nutrition and Lifestyle Program to Help Fight High Blood Pressure (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About…)
I didn’t feel like I was reading a typical reference book. It kept my interest and is easy for the average individual without a medical background to understand. Referenced studies are included, which I found especially beneficial as a health professional. Great book I highly recommend to anyone struggling to lower high blood pressure.

5 Stars Great book.
I’ve used the Vaso-Guard therapy and it is working for me. The book is very comprehensive and I appreciate the holistic approach outlined.
5 Stars My blood pressure went down by 20 points
I actually starting using the Dash diet and some of the supplements, not all. In a few days my blood pressure started to go down dramatically. It’s amazing how much salt there is in everything. You really have to read labels and of course a lot more fruits and veggies!
5 Stars Great information
All in all, very good reading. Nothing new here, just ties together all facets of controlling your high blood pressure: vitamins, supplements, exercise, diet and stress reduction. Presents a variety of programs and explains in detail how each can potentially lower and control hypertension. A good “how to” book to keep handy and refer to often. I have started the program and after only 3 weeks, my blood pressure has dropped. I plan to “wean” myself off the high blood pressure medication I am on now and go “totally natural”.
